It’s not 99 but…

I’m extremely proud of myself for getting so far in so little time.

At approximately 1:30 am on Tuesday, I hit lvl98! My sincerest thanks go to Draco, who slaved hours upon hours, bringing my sin from 82 to 98 in the duration of this 2x exp event. Of course, theres still 98-99, but that can wait.

2 Days for 200m exp

And it ain’t gonna happen! At the moment, my sin is lv96, which is roughly halfway to 99. Draco has been away the entire weekend, so I’m soloing for about 6m/hr, which means I have to solo for roughly 33 hours to get to 99. Two days are 48 hours, so I have 7.5 hours of sleeping/eating each day. And I’ll have to level nonstop for 16 hours a day. I may be dedicated to my little leveling spree, but even I think that’s way too much for me to handle! Draco can probably help on Monday, but I also have class on Monday. At best, I’ll only be able to make it to 98.

But hey, I’m making progress.

Two weeks to 99

Thats the plan. Getting both of our sins to 99 before the 2x exp event ends. I personally think it’s impossible. Draco reckons we can do it if we hit 96 by Wednesday. We did some exp/hr tests with an each take party with battle manual, effectively giving the sin the full 3x exp. We came up with a figure of about 9.5m/hr, which isn’t bad at all. If it were a share party with no BM and 1x exp, the rate would’ve been about 1.7m/hr, so if we’re going to 99, 2x exp event is the time to do it. I’m still skeptical, but hell, it’s worth a shot.

I haven’t made any vids for you guys lately, so I thought I’d give you all at least a short vid.

Bloody roar is nice on things with a good amount of defense, like abysmal knights and Draco’s knight, but on lower defense chars, I’d need something with a little more umph.

So I bought an Infiltrator. I’m not nearly rich enough to afford a slotted one, so I settled for a non-slotted one. Unlike the Bloody roar with all its drawbacks (decreased flee, no hp/sp recovery), the infiltrator has various positive attributes, ranging from increased defense and flee to the hidden 50% demi-human damage increase. It instantly became one of my favorite katars after I gave it a little test run in west HOs. Now if only I could get a slotted one!

Preparation

Anyone who I’ve ever endowed by me knows that Draco and I have access to a third account which we use to house classes that would benefit both of us without excluding either of us. Things like a warp slave, endow slave, leech slave, etc. With our recent venture into sins, I decided we should make a link slave as well. Draco’s sin is a poison/DD sin, so he doesnt have any katar skills, but Assassin link gives me a considerable boost in damage with sonic blow.

At first, I figured it would be easy to level a taekwon from scratch with just 1 str (sprint gives +100 def piercing damage at lvl10), but I hadn’t planned on what I would do at job 1. The taekwon literally had 2 status window attack. This translates to 1 damage on porings and fabres, let alone popos. I ended up grinding on pupas, which I did 3 damage a hit to. It took a full 30 minutes of pupas before…well, before Draco had to bring his priest to help get the taekwon to job 2.

After the first few job levels, things sped up considerably. We went from popos to metalings to gaos. After hitting job 31, we decided to finish up with one of the new repeatable exp quests. After doing a bit of calculation and research, I figured we would need 1000 dokebi horns to get from job 31 straight to job 40. So me and Draco went to collect them. The nice thing about the repeatable exp quests is that you can collect the items on a char that can collect them fast and use them on a slow leveling char.

After two hours, we collected the 1k horns and shotgunned the taekwon to job 40. Then we job changed it to a soul linker. Then we got it 10 job levels. Then we left it alone. Thus is the development of a slave character.

Of course, after killing so many dokebi, we were bound to get something of value!

Not exactly “valuable” anymore, but ehh, it makes up for the hours we’ve wasted hunting horns.

We went to pvp to do a bit of damage testing with one of my newer purchases, a Bloody Roar. Pierces demi human defense, but drops your flee to almost nothing. With a link and demi-human damage gears against Draco and his full demi-human reductions (F.beret, ValkCranial, Immune), I was able to drop him in one hit with a 4k damage SB. In WoE, that damage would be around 2k due to WoE skill reduction and sin link nerf. Not bad, but not nearly enough to kill anything that isnt a novice.

After collecting my WoE supply zennies and selling my Angel Wings (10m), I figured I had enough to purchase my next choice dagger: a TI2 dagger. Draco and I spent hours broswing through shops. Those hours became days. After two days of nearly non-stop searching, I found one selling for 6m! This effectively leaves me 9m to buy either extra daggers or an undead armor of sorts. Or an infiltrator.

Second Day and More RO Stuff

I went back to AX on Saturday not so much for the workshops or exhibits, but to buy some stuff! The first thing I bought was a Kurtis prinny from the NIS shop. Of the three kinds of prinnies they had, this one was my favorite due to its sharp eyes and accompanying theme song (which you have to look for yourself).

There was a special as well. If you spent $20 or more, you also got a free sticker, cloth bag, and fan. Luckily, the prinny was $20.

I went around a bit more and bought a few Ragnarok Battle Offline soundtracks. Despite lacking vocals like RO bgms, they’re pretty well-made, so I didn’t hesitate to pick them up. I was looking for the RBO installation disc too, but never found it, despite there being adverts posted on the booth I was at (a booth selling doujinshi games and stuff, ranging from PG to R =_=). There were boken, shinais, and katana for sale as well, but I honestly didn’t want to have to take the bus back home carrying one. I was also tempted to buy a kimono or yukata, but there weren’t any that I was specifically looking for.

Spent maybe 5 hours there shopping and only bought three things, awesome. Thats quality time spent right there. I decided not to go back on Sunday, well, more like I overslept on Sunday and didn’t feel like getting out of bed.

Numero dos

Me and Draco decided to hunt Marcs a bit more on Sunday, since I wasn’t really doing anything anyways. To be honest, I’m glad  didn’t go to AX on Sunday, because about 40 minutes or so into hunting, I picked up this little gem! This would be the second Marc card I’ve gotten in 3 days. So what was I going to do with this Marc card you ask?

An ice pick! Now all I need is an undead armor of sorts and a dagger set and I’ll be set for a few months!

After getting the pick, Draco and I both tested it on both our sins with our priests as support in ID3. Draco’s sin, being lower level with less str, was averaging 3.5k a double attack. My sin, with a stupidly high amount of str, was averaging 5k a double attack, so I’m very happy with this ice pick. Our plan right now is to get both our sins to sinX with the help of our respective priests. So in the end, we’ll both have sinXs and HPs. Sweet.

First Day and RO-related stuff

My first day at AX was pretty fun, not counting the walking. Right after my morning classes, I took the bus to the convention center. The stop where I got off was about 7 or so blocks away from the convention center, so by the time I got there I was sweating up a storm (Los Angeles at noon is not exactly a fun place to be outside). After watching a few people walk around, I found out where the registration and badge pick-up were, so I headed there.

After picking up the schedule and badge, I decided to walk around a bit to get a feel of where everything was. The exhibit hall wasn’t open yet, so I sat through what seemed to be a lecture on how to draw imaginative landscapes with Photoshop. At least now I know how to make custom brushes!

After sitting through an hour of that, I continued my walking around. The exhibit hall opened up some time later, so I went ahead to check it out first. The line was pretty long (yea, there was a line to get into the place) and started outside of the building, so we had to wait in the heat. It didn’t occur to me then that the line was to check your badge, because anyone can enter the main halls and stuff.

As planned, I stopped by Gravity’s booth first. When I first got there, they were spinning a wheel and giving out prizes left and right. The booth itself had a few computers where you could try out one of Gravity’s three games, RO, Rose, and Requiem. Huh, come to think of it, they all start with an ‘R’. Whatever. After picking up a free client dvd and raffle ticket, I went ahead and tested Rose Online for the heck of it. I didn’t know what the heck I was doing most of the time though, and the stations had high level characters for you to test, so theres no tutorial or anything (the RO comps had 80/50 trans chars).

Around 2pm, I bought some stuff to eat and went to visit some of the other booths. The only ones I really payed attention to were NIS, Bandai, Namco, Funimation, and Nexon. There were a lot of shops in the exhibit hall as well, sporting all sorts of things from manga to anime to plushies to ecchi pillow covers. Ugh.

After spending a couple more hours in the exhibit hall (and winning absolutely nothing from the Gravity booth /bawi) I went out to the main lobby to buy something to eat. The grand prize for the raffle was an RO2 boxset featuring all sorts of RO2 goodies. Except for the game itself, which is pretty stupid if you ask me. There were so many people absent from the booth when the raffle was taking place that twenty or so numbers were called for first and grand prize before anyone actually claimed them.

After getting something to eat, I went to a few video rooms to see if anything good was on. I didn’t want to stay out too late, so I skipped the AMV contest and went home. It was a fun day, but Saturday seems to be a promising day!

After all my vacationing and breaks, I only ended up with one week of the RO anniversary event left. With that in mind, I decided to finally ticket myself an ele armor. I had planned to take the entire week to get enough medals for one, but I didn’t realize how quickly RPS outputs tickets. I ended up with enough tickets after just four days. The first day, I had Draco help me do some RPS while I got on his sin to hunt a Marc card, because I sure as hell am not going to buy a 30mil one. Thirty seconds upon arriving at byalan 4, I get a marc card. Awesome.

It looks nice, doesn’t it? Now all I’m missing is an Ice pick and maybe an Evil druid armor.

Later on, I was shopping around pront, cloaked as always, when I spotted a familiar face.

Eureka! I followed him around a bit before he kafra’d someplace else and I lost him. Summer really is when everyone pops up again lawl.
