Filler #13

February 28, 2009

Filler #13 huh…. Well I was born on the 13th so I don’t see anything bad about it so lets get on with this. I was born on April 13th, was born on a Tuesday not a Friday so ok? Not much animes catch my eyes today also, but this one what just plain pretty tight in my opinion. Black Cat’s main character Train Heartnet is a pretty tight person, he gets things done and is a lazy guy afterwards, I look up to things like that(like Temp >_>…). So after I was done watching the anime I just sat there in my seat thinking, “Man…I wish there was more o_O.” But there wasn’t anymore so yeah. And a reason why I’m saying all this is because well from what the manga says, Train has the same birthday as me! Lol! Yeah so I really like the anime because it gave me some inspiration to be lazy and more relaxed, not that I’m saying I want to have the kind of life he has, just the being tight part.

Fight for Freedom

February 27, 2009

Don’t mind the title, I wasn’t sure what to name this post, so I took the title of a nearby book in the campus library I frequent. Its a book about the American revolution, but I could care less. Anyways, I don’t actually have an idea of what to write. Draco threw off my post consistency when he backed out of Wednesday’s post, so I had to use a post I had scheduled for Thursday, which Draco took over, so I’m doing Friday’s post, even though it was supposed to be Draco’s post today. Still with me? Good.

There are days when ideas simply flow out of your head, and then there are days where the only thing you can think about is thinking about nothing. And for some reason, this post has gradually taken a turn towards literary logic. So lets do a few logic problems shall we?

Here’s an easy one. There are five books on the shelf a little off to the distance. Two of them are green, two are red, and the last one is pink (don’t ask). The green books aren’t next to each other and the red books are next to each other. What’s the order of the books? There’s only one answer, reread the desriptions if you get more than one.

Another! There’s a bookcase with three shelves to the side. All the shelves are the same length (of course) and all of them are filled so there’s no space for any extra books of any size. The bottom shelf is filled with large books, roughly 3 times the width of the smaller books in the top shelf. The middle shelf has medium sized books, about twice the size of the top shelf books. Considering the shelves are a little less than a meter wide, and the small books are exactly a centimeter in width, how long are the shelves exactly? Important points have been italicized.

Answers and explanations to come on my next post, which will be Sunday!

Yugioh!!

February 26, 2009

Not to long ago the anime Yu-gi-oh started airing on tv. At first I though well wtf another random tv show that doesn’t make sense. But now…..now I’m into it again XD.

Yes I admit it, I think Yugioh pwnz all other TCG games >_>… When it started getting popular back then me and Temp would be buying boosters ever so often to improve our random decks. But now, now I’m really regretting spending all the money back then because now, now there is better cards to be spending it on…

Alright but enough of that lets talk about why I’m posting about this. Well first off, at my school for some reason Yugioh starting getting popular again ever since me and my friends decided to bring our decks and duel each other. Other people starting getting decks together also! But they weren’t so good as much as us. And at even one point I was owning so much with my Zombie Deck it got freaking jacked! Oh how I was so damn pissed that I lost it along with Temp’s prized Mirror Force(don’t worry I’ll get another one to replace it), the guilt that some noob now ran off with it to another school, yes I admit I found out the person who stole it went to another school after getting into a fight with my friend. It seemed planned out so perfectly but yeah…

So now with my deck with all my good cards in it all gone, the sleeves, the deck box, everything that made it so damn perfect is now all gone. I seemed to have gotten over it now, only the Mirror Force is still haunting me >_<… It has been 4 months now so now I feel like I could go back to playing it. And this time around, after finding out Zombies got nerfed, I’m going to make a deck all based around my favorite card of all time, Red-Eyes Black Dragon.

It may seem to suck at first but it really has a lot of good cards based around it, and that support it. So my next goal in Yugioh is, well to make sure I can get this Deck to work.

Below is a list of cards I surely will get soon, or if already, have.

“Red-Eyes” brings potential.

Inspiration

February 25, 2009

I used to think I’d never be on par with Iko`’s works, but recent works such as HE’s Final WoE and other recent WoE vids are starting to look the part, aren’t they?

Btw, pages for both RO History III and Project [svs] are now up.

Insanity

February 24, 2009

Story time! I’ll probably be the 4th to admit that I’m an inherently fickle and evil person, especially to my younger cousins. The first three to admit it would be two of those cousins and Draco of course. When we were all younger, I used to trick them into relinquishing their various candies, by telling them things like “Oh that candy is made from cockroaches, thats why it’s crunchy” or “Butterfingers are made from real fingers you know”.

So a couple years ago, I had an idea for a little prank based on something I found at the time. There was an internet article about how hearing deteriorates when you grow older. At some point, the highest frequency you can hear drops below a certain point where you can’t hear it anymore. That same frequency is still very audible when you’re still young though. I showed (played, rather) it to one of my older, younger cousins and Draco and explained to them the mechanics behind the sound.

Then, a flash of inspiration came to me. I got my first cousin and Draco to play along. When my second cousin came out of the shower, I had the sound set to loop. Long story short, she began to go crazy. When she asked us if we heard the sound too, we flatly denied it. When she asked the adults in the house, they honestly couldn’t hear it either. When she started freaking out, we couldn’t stop ourselves from bursting out laughing. So we explained the prank to her and stuff.

Heres the audio file if you want to hear it.

20060610%7C_RINGTONE.mp3

We tried the same prank on a cousin of mine that was closer to my age, but he already knew what it was (the sound is apparently widely used as a ringtone because it’s inaudible by adults).

Oh, if you’re wondering how many cousins Draco and I have, it’s a lot.

Video Making

February 23, 2009

I’ve always been a fan of watching Temp make tight vids but I always wanted to try a little bit also. But it takes a lot of work from what I see, you have to get the people to understand and like that vid. I’ve made only a few RO vids but not the way I really wanted them. Then I started this new game as I mentioned before, Grand Chase. This game has a lot of pvp action that I really like, and not to mention all my friends play it with me so it’s all cool. So when making the vids I would have my friend help along and then choose the song and bam! The vid is made. So as of now I’m going to start making some more vids on Grand Chase.

Temp’s Top 5: Video Games

February 22, 2009

Beginning today, I’ll be starting a new post series called Temp’s Top 5, where we’ll be examining my top five games, books, music, etc. Today’s post: video games.

Many years ago, back before I played MMOs, I played a lot of console games. My uncle in particular was a large influence as to what I played. Back when the Playstation was new, he played a lot of rpgs. When I was old enough to understand the mechanics, I began to play rpgs on my own, so you could say I’m extremely biased towards rpgs.

5. Chrono Cross -

chronocrossbox

One of the very first rpgs I’ve played, Chrono Cross was widely remembered as the sequel to Chrono Trigger, but could never live up to its predecessor. Despite that, I fely Chrono Cross had a charm of its own, making full use of a deep element system and featuring a large cast of characters.
4. .hack// series (original and GU)

185px-dothack_infection_cover1

Seven games in all, but with a complex story that made .hack a true role playing game. The premise of playing an offline mmo is a little weird, but it made it all the more interesting. .hack//G.U. improved on the original on many aspects, implementing a more streamlined battle system that feels more in touch with a real mmo.

3. Wild Arms 1,2,3,XF

wild_arms_2_cover_art

The Wild Arms series is one of the few jrpgs that have a western theme… well, to be honest, I think it’s the only series. Wild Arms 2 was the first rpg I’ve ever finished, and since then, I’ve replayed it a total of 3 times, finishing it each and every time. Wild Arms XF is actually a strategy rpg, or srpg. XF is known for being a strategy rpg that actually requires you to think instead of simply grinding up characters and completely dominating the opposition.

2. Final Fantasy 7,10

ffviibox

Is it any surprise that an rpg fan would have a Final Fantasy game on his all-time favorites list? Contrary to most FFVII fans, I’ve actually only just finished it last year, after finishing Crisis Core. FFVII’s materia system made for stupidly overpowered combinations, but that was the fun part about it. I played and finished FFX a couple years ago, and in all respects, it was the first Final Fantasy game I finished.
1. Monster Hunter PSP series

monster_hunter_coverart

The pic is from the Playstaion 2 version, but I’ve really only played the PSP ones. The PS2 box art is simply better in my opinion. Unlike the other titles on this list, my number one pick is the only non-rpg game here. The Monster Hunter series is an action/adventure type game where you hunt large wyverns and monsters and carve up their scales and skin to make weapons and armors so you can hunt even larger and more dangerous dragons. I’ve easily spent upwards of 400 hours total on the series.

Filler #12

February 21, 2009

Despite the fact that Draco is here to pick up some of the slack, both of us are lazy on weekend posts, which basically means there will still be weekend fillers (unless someone wants to take that role *hint hint*). So today we have…yet another Monster Hunter 4koma. Oh, that reminds me, I should do a post on my top 5 games tomorrow!

Hobbies

February 20, 2009

So since I’m a new poster here I might as well describe what I do around most of the time. Well first off I would like to say yeah I’m taking a real huge break away from RO. I’ve started some new mmo’s only to find a few good ones. And that currently High School is being pretty easy at the moment.

Alright things to say, well I have tons of things to do at home, for peaks sake I got a PS3, a Wii, and PSP, and of course my computer XD. What I do in most of my free time would be probably playing on my computer but at times when I go eat dinner I would get on the PS3. The PS3 well got 5 games to play but which ones? One of my favorites at the moment is Little Big Planet, where as you are a sackboy and you jump around doing random things, though I would suggest you play with friends sitting right next to you because it’s more fun that way. Next Resistance 2, well hell I thought I really sucked at first person shooter on the PC but wtf, for some strange reason I hella pwn in Resistance 2 while playing online in the 60 player rooms. Next Rock Band 2, I’m just plain rocking in it, I can play every single instrument in it, of course up to hard mode only though(not ready for expert much lulz). I used to suck so bad though, I guess it just takes some practice. Example: When I first started Temp was the Drummer and i was the Guitarist, at one point in time I felt sick of being the Guitarist and wanted to be the Drummer, so we switched places and boy did I suck so bad in the Drums I quitted, but now I’m pretty good at it so problem solved.

Alright moving on to the Wii games. Whats the matter scared? Well judging from that phrase right there you can instantly tell that I play Super Smash Brothers Brawl (SSBB). Alright even though I said that other phrase up there my main isn’t Wolf, it’s acually Falco and Kirby(for 1v1 stituations). I’m a pretty decent player, I’m pretty much one of the top brawl players at my school(yes my school has a club just for playing games like Brawl XD). Brawl is pretty much the only Wii game I play anymore, so come on anybody wanna 1v1 me? Heres my Friend Code: 3780-8852-9711 ign:XLR8R

Alright so heres something new, useally Temp would suggest a new mmo to me but this game wasn’t suggested by him. Grand Chase, well I’m pretty sure barely any of you guys know wth this game is. Well it was a game suggested by my friend. It’s pretty much like a 2-D kind of game, you go to dungeons, you pvp people, and you race to be the best. Seeing that this game had a lot of fun stuff to it I started playing. I got pretty far now, having all the characters and having a pretty decent skill in pvping other people, I guess my Brawl skills kind of goes into here because it reminds me of it a little. Even though this is a good game imo the community is shit. To many douche bags, to many laggers, and to many idiots. It’s true people can’t take losing in pvp in, they start saying shit about how they couldn’t do this and that. I’d just wish more people in this game were more kind and loving, I mean seriously they taking losing to seriously, Example:  Dood that just got pwned:ZOMG YOU NOOB SPAMMER! Me: Umm yeah I wasn’t the idiot that was jumping off the map retardly. So yeah this game isn’t for everyone, but I play it because my friends look up to me to be a good guild leader once the system comes out, my ign is Sytax. And heres a random vid I made to amuse people XD.

Lass is my main so here ya go

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUfnkanbQU8

So all in all thats pretty much what I right now, if there was still more than I really don’t care much.

Personally,

February 19, 2009

I would’ve started with a “c-c-combo breaker!” post to break way from the filler arc we were in, but to each his own. No one likes filler, they’re just there to give the author a little extra time to work on the main story/post. Course, this applies to anime based on manga as well.

So the story is, after I posted filler #11, Draco/accel complained to me about the constant fillers and lack of interesting posts. So I suggested that maybe he could write some posts too, even if only for filler days. Honestly, I expected his reaction to be more in the “lolol, no wai!” range, but boredom does strange things to us all. So with all due respect, welcome to our newest, and only other, poster, accelerater!

And with that aside, today’s post will be about my internet persona, or rather, my presence in mmorpgs and the adaption of my name I’ve used in them.

I was originally going to post screenshots of each and every game I’ve played with my character in them, but I figured redownloading and installing 20gb+ worth of mmos on a vista based system wasn’t a very bright idea (vista scans .exe files, and takes an immense amount of time for larger ones).

Although I usually consider consider Gunbound my first real mmog, I think that honor actually belongs to a lesser known browser-based game called Neopets (*shudder*). My username back then was killermew, back when I still played the games (I could care less about the new ones, Gold version was the best). My pets were all named in one way or another Dragoon, after one of the mavericks in Megaman X4.

Some time after I quit Neopets, I played Starcraft. When I started playing Gunbound, I wanted a name that both incorporated the words Templar and Dragoon. Unfortunately, there was a 12 character limit for names, eliminating my first draft picks, TemplarDragoon and TemplarDragon. I flipped through the dictionary to find any words close enough, but short enough. And thus, I chose TemplarDraco as my username.

In what was a direct translation between Gunbound and Ragnarok Online, my first RO char was also named TemplarDraco. Soon afterwards, I also made the name DarkerTemplar, as a tribute to my favorite Starcraft unit. Internet convention is that people will typically call your username by your first syllable. So I got used to being called “Temp” by my peers, so much that I prefered that name even when playing as DarkerTemplar (to the point where I would practically ignore whoever was calling me).

The only time I’ve ever strayed from the “Temp” naming scheme was when I played Maplestory a year or so later. Being a .hack// fan, I took a name closer to that spectrum.

capture

Also from .hack// was a variation of “Temp”, using a ‘3′ in place of the ‘e’. This name, I’ve used sparingly, as a forum username and in Dream of Mirror Online.

00000033

By this point, I had already solidified the use of “Temp” in all my names, in any form. In more recent times, I’ve used the names ShrimpTempura and Temptatio, the former of which I’ve used in RF online and Luna online.
